John Patrick Pedracine died on April 23, 2024 at his home near Florence, Texas.
He was a smart, kind, and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.
John was born in San Antonio on Oct 4, 1947. His parents were Pat and Marie Pedracine.
As a child he traveled with his Dad’s Airforce assignments until the whole family voted for the next city. The year was 1962 and the city selected, Austin, had a wonderful spring fed swimming pool that everyone remembered vividly.
After high school and college years, he was employed for 36 years at the University of Texas in the Mechanical Engineering department as a Scientific Instrument maker. Ever curious and talented, he mentored hundreds of students and partnered with professors on thousands of projects in all the engineering disciplines. No prototype or experiment was too tough to help design and then build.
He loved to fish. He constantly refined the tools, timing, and methods for catching every kind of fresh and saltwater fish.
He is survived by his wife (Melissa Waggoner), his son (Chris Pedracine), his grandson (Christopher Pedracine), brother (Frank Pedracine), and sisters (Ann Cleverley & Lisa Eddins).
No memorial service is planned, please think of John when you catch a lovely fish.
